Do you look around ... at what others have, school grades or maybe just the world in general and think or say .. "Well that is not fair!!"
What exactly is fair? For some it is an even playing field for everyone or the rules are set the same for all. Maybe for some of us we have worked hard at something and someone else gets the credit.
Or even more so, someone else has something that we don't.
All of these things and some that I have not mentioned cause us to feel like life just isn't fair. But as the question above asks.
"WHO SAID LIFE WOULD BE FAIR?"
Where exactly is that written? If you ever want to know what unfair looks like in the Bible, turn to the Book of Job.
This book starts out talking about our buddy Job. Verse one says he was "blameless, upright, fearing God and turning from evil." I am sure that describes all of us as we complain about things being fair!!
But what did Job have? Well according to the Bible Job had 7 sons, 3 daughters, 7,000 sheep, 3,000 camels, 500 yoke of oxen, 500 female donkeys, and many servants. "That man (Job) was the greatest of all the men of the east."
Job even went so far as to offer up offerings to God every time his kids had a party just incase they made God mad. Good guy.
Before the first chapter is over and in just one day Job lost everything! I don't mean he lost his possessions ... he lost everything ... kids and all. In chapter two Job loses his health. So in 35 verses Job went from having everything to having nothing except his wife (who basically told him to curse God and die) and three "friends".
Job could honestly say that this wasn't fair. Over the next 39 chapters he converses with his friends and questions God. But never did he blame God for what had happened. Do we?
At the end of the book, because of Job's faithfulness to God, he was rewarded. God blessed him with 14,000 sheep, 6,000 camels, 1,000 yoke of oxen and 1,000 female donkeys. Job had 7 sons and 3 daughters.
Life isn't fair and it isn't going to be fair. How we handle ourselves in the midst of the "unfairness" and how we focus on God is the ultimate test during those times.
So whenever you feel life just isn't giving you a fair shake ... just remember Job and how he still loved and worshiped God no matter what happened
