"From that time many of His disciples went back and walked with Him no more." John 6:66
"Have you ever heard the phrase 'lost in the moment'? It's easy to get lost in the moment and make a foolish decision or, due to peer pressure, do something we will always regret. The 'moment' is one of the hardest places to live. When you are faced with a decision ;in the moment,' it really comes down to two options:
Will the next second of your life represent Christ and His character, or will it represent the world and its downfall?"
"Living for Christ moment by moment can be one of the hardest things to accomplish in your life, but it is what true followers of Christ do. Anyone can life for Christ at church, during a Bible study, at a camp or retreat, or even when you are with all your Christian friends. What about when that is all gone, though? When everyone is looking at you, expecting you just drop the 'God thing' and join in their fun? Those moments are when a true follower of Christ is defined."
"John 6 speaks about how Jesus is the Bread of Life. All of His followers are given a challenge in verses 53-59. The result of this challenge was that some of His disciples said in verse 60, 'This is a hard saying; who can understand it?' Then in verse 66, 'From that time many of His disciples went back and walked with Him no more.'"
"There was a moment when following Jesus was 'cool' or 'accepted'. But when push came to shove and the disciples had to make a decision, they quit. I wonder how many of you are like the disciples and in the moment quit following Jesus! Have you stopped having faith that God can move mountains? Galatians 3:3 asks, 'Are you so foolish? Having begun in the Spirit, are you now being made perfect by the flesh?' How do you answer that question? Have you stopped following and trusting in your Lord because of the moment you are in? I challenge you today to follow Jesus moment by moment and never give up on Him!"
